"This is what the LORD says - He who made a way through the sea, a path through the mighty waters. Forget the former things, do not dwell on the past. See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the desert and streams in the wasteland." Isaiah 43:16, 18-19.

God is doing "a new thing" for us everyday. He provides us with everything we need. He delivers us from evil. He guides us and directs our paths. He heals our brokenness and cleanses us from our sins! Don't we see? Do we not perceive it?

God is doing great and marvelous things for us. May we, "Forget the former things" - things that may have hurt us or troubled us in the past and let God make a way of love in the "desert" of our humanity and streams of kindness in the "wasteland" of our community.

Apostle Paul gives us an example of how we (as people of God) face the New Year before us, "Not that I have already obtained all this, or have already been made perfect, but I press on to take hold of that for which Christ Jesus took hold of me. Brothers, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead. I press on forward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus."

Let us praise God for the many things He does for us everyday and let Him lead and guide us in our new journey this year 2010. Happy New Year! (DFR)
